In celebration of the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the Equal Opportunity Programs Office, the Office of Diversity & Inclusion, and the center-wide MLK Commemoration Planning Committee, invited all employees to attend a special event featuring Dr. Freeman A. Hrabowski III on Tuesday, Jan. 13, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. EST at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md.

Hrabowski has been the president of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, (UMBC) since 1992 and serves as a consultant on science and math education to national agencies, universities and school systems. He was appointed by President Obama to chair the newly created President’s Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for African Americans. He was also named one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World by TIME magazine (2012) and one of America’s Best Leaders by U.S. News & World Report (2008).
